Garden waste collections update from Southend Council
Following the recent announcement of a new recycling and waste contractor starting in April next year, the council wants to reassure residents with a current garden waste collection that the service will be uninterrupted.
Starting in April 2025, the new contractor SUEZ will take over recycling and waste collections, including the paid for garden waste collection scheme from Southend’s current contractor. The service offer will remain for current and renewed subscribers and potential new customers can continue to join the scheme as usual.
Residents belonging to the scheme are also reminded that their garden waste bin belongs to them – and the same bin will continue to be used from April 2025.
Further information will be provided by Southend-on-Sea City Council to all garden waste collection subscribers in early 2025.
Cllr Lydia Hyde, cabinet member for climate, environment and waste, says: “We want to assure our residents that their garden waste collection will continue as usual. The new partner, SUEZ, is committed to maintaining the high standards of service that our community expects.”
Vincent Masseri, general manager at SUEZ, said: “Our goal is to ensure a smooth transition for Southend residents as we take over the service in April. This includes the garden waste collection scheme, which will carry on being delivered on a weekly basis for subscribers and be open to new customers.”
