A Summer of Fun at Southend Museums

June 11, 2017 by Leigh-on-Sea.com

Would you like to know more about our local history? Always meant to visit the Southend Museums but never got round to it? Make the summer of 2017 the summertime to do it.

If your children are studying the tudors, prehistoric Britain, the moon, the World Wars or the Monks of Prittlewell Priory at school then make sure you check out the activities being run by the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council Museums Education Team this summer.

There is a range of exhibitions and events to appeal for a range of ages and audiences. Events are priced at just £4-5 per person so even with lunch on top it is still cheaper than the train fare to London.

Cllr Ann Holland, Executive Councillor for Culture, Tourism and the Economy, said: “It is set to be a busy and exciting summer for our museums education team. We encourage all parents to have a look at what we’ve got organised and bring their children along. It is quick and easy to visit our local museums rather than spending time and money travelling into London.

“Seeing and experiencing what they are learning at school really brings the classroom education to life. Did you know that this year we will have nearly as many events for children as the Greenwich Planetarium for example! Our events are popular so make sure you book early.”
