Charity Tree-Cycling collection service returns to more locations in support of Havens Hospices
Havens Hospices is welcoming back its Christmas tree collection fundraiser to more locations in the New Year to help raise vital funds towards its specialist care.
The collection service will pick up real Christmas trees from households in return ‘fir’ a donation of a minimum of £7 on Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th January 2024.
This year’s scheme has extended to collect from more postcodes across South East Essex, including SS0, SS1, SS2, SS3, SS4, SS5, SS6, SS7, SS8 and SS9.
The proceeds raised will help to fund the charity’s specialist care and support for local babies, children, and adults living with incurable conditions and their families.
This year’s collections are being kindly sponsored by local insulation company Saving Energy and all trees will be turned into wood chippings by Essex Tree Services for free to be reused elsewhere including the gardens at Fair Havens and Little Havens.
Lucy Lock, Community Engagement Manager at Havens Hospices said: “This is the fourth year we have run our Christmas Tree Collection Service and this January we wanted to expand the increasingly popular fundraiser to reach even more people in our community.
“The scheme so far has raised thousands of pounds towards our free care and support for hundreds of local families who have been given the devastating diagnosis of an incurable condition.
“Instead of giving yourself the gruelling task of trying to squeeze your Christmas tree in your car for a trip to the local tip, why not book a collection service with us? We are so grateful for the support from our sponsors Saving Energy, Essex Tree Services and the other local businesses who have already offered their time and vans to make the collections possible.”
Havens Hospices is looking for more volunteers with vans who are kindly able to offer their time to assist with collecting trees. If you can help please contact Su from Havens Hospices at sharrison@havenshospices.org.uk
To book a collection service visit www.havenshospices.org.uk/treecollection before Tuesday 2nd January.
