Christmas Fundraiser - Fishermen's Chapel - 23rd Dec

This Wednesday, 23 December, the Fishermen's Chapel is hosting a Christmas fundraising event to raise vital funds to refurbish the chapel, which alongside being a working church, is also a thriving arts venue in need of a little TLC.

The day kicks off at 10am with a cafe from new local pop-up Beep Beep Pop. BBP's Director Jo Overfield, previously of Elsie's Place cafe in Leigh Community Centre, which closed in June, is reincarnating the customers' favourites in the form of the famous Elsie's Flapjacks and gluten free banana bread, alongside stunning locally ground coffee.

There will also be other festive cakes, and many more refreshments at very reasonable prices.

At 2pm, the chapel will host a special performance by vintage trio The Daisy Bowlers, who play infectious retro tunes to the ukulele, double bass and guitar. The music part of the event costs £10 (kids go free) but *all* proceeds will go to the Fishermen's Chapel.

The chapel was founded in 1748 and its congregation is still a big part of Old Leigh life, welcoming Sea Scouts for Church Parade, and hosting music during the Leigh Folk Festival.

The chapel is also home to a resident cartoonist, freelance office space to hire, and hosts coffee mornings once a week on Wednesday mornings thanks to Beep Beep Pop.

To book your Daisy Bowlers tickets please call Heather Simmonds on 07879 232231.
