POPULAR cookery competition, Come Dine With Me, is coming to Southend in the New Year.

The successful Channel 4 series, which has been running since 2005, follows four strangers who take it in turns to prepare the tastiest meal, be the most accommodating host and throw the best dinner party.

A popular aspect is the witty narration by comedian Dave Lamb.

The winner at the end of the week, as voted in secret by the other contestants, will bag £1,000 prize money.

This year, however, the show is appealing for couples – partners, best friends, or family members – to take part as a team.

The new show begins filming in Southend for the week beginning on Monday, January 13 and continues into February.
