Consider Yourself part of The Palace Theatre!
Consider Yourself part of The Palace Theatre!
2016 marks the ninth year that the Palace Theatre is producing their popular Summer Youth Project and this year’s show will be the smash-hit Oliver!
In this fantastic musical based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist, a young orphan falls in with a group of street-urchin pickpockets led by the Artful Dodger and masterminded by the criminal Fagin. When Oliver's intended target, Mr Brownlow takes pity on the lad and offers him a home, Fagin's henchman Bill Sikes plots to kidnap the boy to keep him from talking.
Oliver! is a classic story of friendship, family, loyalty and courage. Lionel Bart’s musical masterpiece will be brought to life by a talented company of local youngsters and promises to be an adventure for the whole family!
The Palace Theatre Summer Youth Project is open to anyone aged between 9 – 19 and is a great opportunity to work with a professional creative team as well as the Technical, Marketing, Front of House and Education Team at Southend Theatres. Opportunities are also available to assist with the production, directing, choreography or musical direction. Participants get to learn about the theatre, make new friends, have fun and perform a stunning production in a professional theatre environment.
Auditions for performers will be held on Sunday 10 April with the actual project running from Sunday 31 July to Sunday 14 August 2016.
