Convenient parking with over half a million transactions using the Southend Pass
The Southend Pass continues to prove to be a success, with over half a million uses since April 2024.
The annual pass, priced at just £12.50 per month, or £125 for the year if you pay up front, saving even more money has seen over 500,000 uses since April this year. Over half of those have been around the High Street, supporting Southend’s local economy. Additionally, since the changes to seafront evening parking in July, customers have used the pass over 12,000 times along the seafront, between 6pm and 9pm.
The pass enables holders to park in any council-owned car park or on-street pay and display parking bay in Southend for up to three hours at a time across each of the zones in the city, totalling up to 13 hours each day. This includes the additional benefit of the extra three-hour allowance when parking in the central seafront area (zone 1a) between 6pm and 9pm.
The pass is available via the Southend Parking app on the Apple Store and Google Play Store. Once you have bought the pass, just park and activate your parking session on the app. If your three hours expire and you wish to stay longer in that zone, you can top up your parking session with the app for the relevant additional charge.
Cllr Daniel Cowan, leader of the council, said: “The Southend Pass continues to be a success, with over half a million uses since April. The pass has improved parking accessibility and affordability, inviting more people to travel around our city. I’m particularly pleased to see users taking advantage of the additional benefit of another three hours of parking along the seafront in the evenings.
“The Pass is not just about parking, it's about supporting our local businesses and ensuring that Southend remains an attractive option for both residents and visitors. It is a fantastic parking offer, and the recent figures show that usage has been high in the High Street and seafront, showing the versatility of the Pass, but also how it benefits our primary shopping and visitor areas.”
