Detectives appeal for witnesses after Iceland van drives into family car

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an Iceland van driver smashed into a family car in Southend before fleeing the scene. 

Phoebe Ross from Southend, was about to get into her sister-in-laws Nissan Qashqai parked on Trinity Road, when the driver allegedly ploughed into the open door, squashing Ms Ross as she tried to secure her child into the car. 

The family, including a 12 week old and two year old boys, were left in shock as the side window shattered covering one of the tot's in glass, leaving him with cuts to his fingers and hands. 

Ms Ross did not feel the full impact on the incident until she returned home, at which point an ambulance was called. Fortunately, none of the family experienced serious injuiries. 

Iceland have delcined to comment whilst the police investigate.
