Dial 159 to contact your bank

December 5, 2024

Stop Scams UK has set up a special number to connect victims of fraud directly with their bank. This now covers 99% of UK current account holders. If you have been a victim of fraud, you can safely call 159, they will ask which bank you are with and connect you directly to them.

There are a lot of scams where criminals impersonate your bank to steal your money. These often involve them telling you about suspicious activity on your account and they will then connect you to someone pretending to be the police who asks you to help them investigate fraud at your local bank. They convince you to withdraw money and then send a courier to collect it. If you get a call like this, hang up and call 159, you should be put through to someone who can help you.

There is more information on the Stop Scams UK website.
