Elsie's Place - Review

January 13, 2015 by Joanna Harrison

When you walk into Elsie's Place, there's a lovely sense of calm. Purple walls, cool music playing, and the tinkle of cups and saucers. Said cups and saucers are all vintage, and stacked behind the counter, uniquely mismatched and cute.

>The coffee is delicious, freshly ground and for £1.95 a cup, very good value. There is a wide selection of teas, all served in vintage teapots.

The cuisine ranges from paninis (we are assured that the goats cheese and chorizo is a bestseller) and jacket potatoes to home made soups.

The cute atmosphere is friendly and unhurried, and you feel like you're in your nan's sitting room - in a good way!

The prices are very reasonable - and that's the ethos of Elsie's. It is a community cafe for the people of Leigh and that's a great selling point!

Whether you've been to a class in the community centre or are just in need of a pit stop while out shopping, Elsie's is a lovely bubble of peace in this busy town.

Elsie's Place is open Mon to Fri 10-3pm and some weekends when events are on at Leigh Community Centre. It is also a buggy friendly cafe.
