Festival map revealed for Southend City Jam
Final preparations are coming together for this year’s Southend City Jam, Europe's largest free street art festival.
From 1- 3 September 2023, the city will come alive with vibrant street art, live music, and delicious street food. A festival map has been released to showcase the wealth of activities going on throughout the City Centre, and this year will see the excitement spill onto the seafront and Southend Pier.
At the Pier, 31 incredible street artists will be doing their thing live, while festivalgoers can indulge in a diverse selection of street food, and live music from a range of solo, duo, and acoustic bands, as well as other local musicians and performers.
For budding artists, the festival presents an exciting new opportunity to leave their mark as well. Mini cubes designed for kids to paint will be dotted around the festival site, allowing young talents to express themselves and build a love for art from an early age. Southend City Jam isn't just about showcasing art – it's about creating it too!
Cllr Derek Jarvis, cabinet member for arts, culture, heritage and leisure, said: “Southend City Jam has become a hallmark event in the city's cultural calendar, and this year promises to be the most exciting yet. The new additions ensure there is something for everyone, from art enthusiasts to families seeking a fun day out. Get ready to immerse yourself in a weekend of culture and creativity!”
Jacqui Dallimore, chair of the Southend Tourism Partnership, said: “It’s great to see City Jam expanding to include more of the seafront, making it a city centre-wide festival that will be a huge boost for local businesses at the end of the summer holidays.
"With over 200 artists coming from around the world, Southend is on the cusp of creating a modern and inspired events calendar that will have residents and visitors returning again and again.”
Further information regarding the event, including full details of all the artists involved, volunteering, and sponsorship opportunities can be found on the website, www.southendcityjam.co.uk
