Festival of Southend

From Saturday 27th to Monday 29th May, Chalkwell Park will be host to the Festival of Southend-on-Sea.

The festival promises to be a riveting mix of food, drink, craft and fun for the whole family, including funfair rides for the kids, live music and a health, healing and wellbeing area.

Created to commemorate the Borough’s 125th anniversary, alongside Southend’s status as the UK’s ‘Alternative City of Culture’, the festival is open to all and tickets are on sale now, with money raised by bookings shared between MENCAP, the ‘Music Man’ project and Southend Carnival.

Southend Museums will be showcasing local historical moments from the heart of the festival, while Thames Delta present the main stage of live music with programmes running from 11am til 7pm each day, alongside free music workshops by Quest Music Services. Highlights include previous LoS Sound features Dexter Shaw & The Wolfe-Tones , The Dusty Peddlers , Davey Hal & The Big Bow Wow

The dedicated ‘KidZone’ will feature numerous activities for the little ones to take part in, from the Essex Wildlife Trust’s bee-related craft classes to characters from Disney’s Frozen storytelling on site.

Southend Carnival Chair, Garry Lowen said ‘we are really excited to be continuing to work with our key sponsors; SummerCare, Greenlight, Rossi Ice Cream, who will be present at the festival along with VIP Security, and c2c who continue to be our travel partner for all events.’
