If I own the leasehold of my flat, can I let it out when i'm away?

September 12, 2017 by Melinda @ Giles Wilson Solicitors

QUESTION:I own the leasehold of my flat and I am due to go away working for at least 6 months; can I let my flat out?

ANSWER: You need to look at the terms of your lease. Usually it sets out whether you can sub-let and on what terms, and at the very least you are usually required to give notice to the freeholder. I hope this helps, and that you are going away somewhere exciting!
