Fully funded training available for careers in health care
Southend City Council are delighted to announce that the Halo training programme has been awarded a contract for another 12 months with courses now being delivered in Basildon, Chelmsford, Thurrock and Southend.
The training courses can result in a City and Guilds qualification and are available to people across mid and south Essex.
Funded by Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System and administered by Southend-on-Sea City Council, Halo works with leading health and social care providers and partners offering fully funded training for a career in health and social care.
Currently offering combined delivery of face to face and virtual learning, these 4-week programmes have been designed in collaboration with employers, Skills for care and NHS to provide people the skills they are looking for, to prepare for a career as a health care professional.
Cllr James Moyies, cabinet member for public health, adult social care & constitutional affairs, said: “This is great news for the many people who work across Essex in health and social care settings who want improve job prospects as well those looking to train for a new career or a change of direction.
“From working with those who have learning disabilities and providing essential mental health support, through to supported community living, working with NHS and social care opportunities, there are many roles available in healthcare offering long-term employment prospects, job security and opportunities for progression – including the potential to go on and complete an NHS-accredited degree.”
Ruth Jackson, executive chief people officer for the mid and south Essex ICB, said: "All partners within the integrated care system share the same passionate ambition to build an outstanding workforce. To ensure the sustainability of our workforce, it is imperative to start investing in training now.
"We want to encourage and inspire existing staff and new talent to enable us to build a workforce that can provide the best standard of care, to deliver better outcomes for our local population.”
