Further Problems for The Grand

May 25, 2017 by Leigh-on-Sea.com

Mick Norcross has expressed concerns that his regeneration project for Leigh’s Grand Hotel will not get approval from council officers.

The Grand, situated on the Broadway, is to be turned into a multi-million pound development consisting of a ground floor restaurant and terrace, a basement wine bar and health club, with 19 self-contained flats spread across three floors and a penthouse roof extension.

Mr Norcross, who is presenting the plans before Southend Council’s planning committee at their next meeting on Wednesday, June 14th, feels that the project will not get underway before the building can fall into further disrepair.

Residents of Leigh have become divided on opinion over the project, with some showing concern for the provision of affordable housing and parking, whilst some are happy to see the restoration of one of Leigh’s most prestigious heritage buildings.

This is not the first time that issues have been presented on the Grand, read more here.
