Get messy at Buttercup Club!

December 4, 2013

The words "messy play" are guaranteed to strike fear into houseproud parents everywhere. That incendiary mix of paint, clay and soft furnishings, as much as you'd love your little darlings to allow their creativity to run wild, will always require a laborious period of cleaning up after the event. Maybe that's why the messy play sessions from the Buttercup Club Parent & Toddler Group have proved so popular.

Held at Leigh Community Centre every Wednesday and Thursday (including most school holidays), the extensive list of activities ensures even the most demanding mini-creative will find something to capture their imagination. From painting and collage to play with water, sand and food, the organisers promise a fun and friendly atmosphere for children and parents alike.

Organiser, Sharon Woodrow, has been running the Buttercup since her girls - now 14 and 13 were toddlers themselves. She says that the sessions are a fantastic way to socialise and prepare children for a moral formalised playgroup environment.

Each 70 minute session consists of forty minutes of messy play, followed by a short break for juice and biscuits (with a tea or coffee for the parents and carers). The final twenty minutes are devoted to a period of group nursery rhymes, musical instrument playing and bubble blowing and popping!

The first session is absolutely free, with subsequent sessions costing £5 per child (£2.50 for siblings), which are booked in blocks of five sessions. For more details, and to make a booking, call Sharon on 01702 712150.
