Getting back to exercise

June 23, 2013

Having spent the past couple of years either pregnant or exhausted I seem to have lived vicariously through my husband's marathon and triathlon training. Keeping up with the sporty Jones's can be a massive challenge for many mums and dads. The biggest hurdle  is often time, and trying to make your window coincide with the desired sporting fix can be tricky! It often feels like a mammoth task just getting some kit together and getting out, let alone having a training 'plan' or direction. Of course the joy of finding some 'me' time and using it for sport is that the preparation time is absolute minimum - no one expects your hair to be brushed, do they?!.

What I hadn't counted on was Leigh being a sporting hotbed by the sea. It also seems to have embraced 'beginners', 'the getting back to it'ers', and  'the frankly I need to fit it in before the school-runners'.

I am currently 'getting back to running' with the Leigh on Sea Striders (LOSS), as well as some weekend pilates while husband tends the flock. Here are some other options that may excite you:

Mums boot camp (see http://www.leigh-on-sea.com/content/mums-boot-camp)

LOSS run the 'getting back to running' sessions on a Monday evening at 7.30

Clement's Place has a range of classes designed to start just after school drop off or finish just before school pick up (http://www.clementsplace.co.uk/)  ">

What are other Leigh mums and dads up to? We'd love to hear!
