Innovative Fit4 Work courses are set to give unemployed Southend people the best possible preparation for finding jobs.
They offer a whole range of activities over nine weekly sessions with practical advice to help people transform their confidence and tackle job applications with new vigour.
The courses run on Mondays and Fridays from 9:15am until 12:30pm, from Friday 22nd January until Monday 21st March and Friday 1st April until Friday 3rd June.
Run by the Seejobgroup, the classes are based in the Hub on the first floor of The Victoria Shopping Centre, Southend SS2 5SP.
They cover one-to-one job coaching focusing on each individual’s current situation and their aspirations, as well as group workshops on CVs, cover letters, application forms or interviews.
Meanwhile, T.R.Y. Fitness will offer individual and group support with training and fitness coaching sessions to gear participants up for an active life.
NHS Health Checks will also be undertaken and there will be support for dealing with issues of stress, alcohol reduction, stopping smoking and weight management.
A professional chef will show how to budget and cook healthy, affordable and delicious meals.
There will be money management sessions with further workshops on budgeting skills and personalised debt management.
Southend Association of Voluntary services will also stage a workshop to demonstrate the value of volunteering.
Deputy Council Leader, Councillor Ian Gilbert said: “These courses offer a really positive way to prepare people for finding work.
“They will help participants learn how best to present themselves, and give them lasting confidence to assist in all aspects of their lives.
“We thoroughly recommend anyone who has been unemployed for a while to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to help turn things round for the long term.”
