Laughter and Community Spirit Combine to Bring Back Leigh-on-sea Folk Festival in 2025!
Leigh-on-Sea, Essex – A night of laughter and entertainment is on the horizon as the Leigh Folk Festival gears up for a special Charity Comedy Night this Saturday, October 26, 2024. The event will be held at the Leigh Community Centre, Elm Road, Leigh-on-Sea starting at 8:00 PM (Doors 7:00 PM), with all proceeds going towards bringing back the much-loved Leigh Folk Festival in 2025.
The evening will feature an exciting line-up of comedians, hosted and curated by Ross McGrane, founder of Little Smash Comedy, and one of the leading figures in the local comedy scene.
McGrane shared his excitement for the event:
“Comedy has always been a great way to bring people together, and what better cause than supporting the return of Leigh Folk Festival? This festival is such a huge part of the town’s culture, and I’m thrilled to help raise the funds needed to see it back in 2025. We’ve got some fantastic acts lined up, so get ready for a night of belly laughs!”
As one of the UK’s largest free folk festivals, the Leigh Folk Festival has been a cultural highlight of Leigh-on-Sea for over 30 years. The festival was unfortunately paused, but with the help of fundraisers like this, the festival committee is committed to reviving it next year.
John Batch, a spokesperson for the Leigh Folk Festival, expressed his gratitude and optimism:
“The Leigh Folk Festival has always been more than just music; it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and shared experiences. We are immensely grateful to Ross and Little Smash Comedy for putting together this night of entertainment to help us bring back the festival in 2025. With the community’s support, we’re confident that we can come back bigger and better than ever.”
Tickets for the Comedy Night are available now for £18.00 + booking fee, with all proceeds going directly to support the Leigh Folk Festival’s return. Guests are encouraged to book tickets before the night where possible, to avoid disappointment.

Leigh Folk Arts Association would like to thank local businesses Atlantic Pacific and Ruark who are supporting this event.
