Leigh Art Trail for kids CAT

June 5, 2019 by Joanna

The Leigh Art Trail is back again. I'm sure many of you will be familiar with this annual event showcasing the work of local contemporary artists and designers in our seaside town, but have you heard of the Children's Art Trail (CAT)? The organisers are keen to get little locals involved the fun and it all kicks off on Saturday 8th June and runs until Saturday 15th June. The trail is suitable for all ages and is completely free.

Why not take your kids on an adventure around Leigh-on-Sea? There are 66 artists exhibiting work (don't worry they're not all on the CAT trail! ). You just need follow the map and look out for the CAT logos and jot down your answer on the question sheet. The point of the trail is to encourage the taking part, and encouraging kids to look at art so there are no wrong answers and all completed entries get a reward. You can also enter your question sheet to win a bigger prize too.

Simply download the trail sheet directly from the website or collect one from Leigh Library, Two Tree Gallery or Saint Pierre School. The sheet includes a map and question sheet. There are also colouring sheets available too to encourage your little Picassos to make their own artwork. You can complete the trail in any order and can do it all at once or spread it out over several days.

Why not team this with a run around the Library Gardens and an ice-cream from Cookies and Cones or Poco Gelato and you've got a lovely day out.

I can't wait to do the trail, I love that our town has events like this. Lets all show our support for CAT.

Don't forget to tag your photos using @leigharttrail on Instagram or Twitter- there are CAT selfie points where you can get creative and have fun.

@motherofalloutings can't wait to take part!
