Leigh Lights 2015
Leigh Lights 2015
Those of you that know me, know how much I enjoy Christmas. Those of you that don’t please note the large dose of sarcasm! It is coming up to that time of year again and of course the first thing to welcome in the seasons festivities is the Leigh Lights.
This year once again looks to be the biggest yet taking place on Friday 27th November starting with the parade at 6.30pm all the way from Kings Road right through Leigh Road and Leigh Broadway finishing at Broadway West.
With the position of the Scott & Stapleton offices at 42 Broadway we are right in the heart of the action and as ever, people in the office that are a lot less bah humbug than me have organised a huge event that will I am sure appeal to all ages.
We have of course the now famous Grotto and we are hopeful of the big man himself making an appearance. We hope that the fact we had hundreds of kids last year, queuing outside the door, hasn’t put off Father Christmas and we have invited him to come again to make sure that the children have been good and are deserving of presents this year?
We also have Anna and Elsa from Frozen dropping in to see us plus, Party With Sid children’s entertainer who will be here keeping those little darlings quiet, I mean amused.
The adults shouldn’t be too bored stiff there will be the Rock Choir just outside belting out a few festive numbers and if you are really good you might even get a mulled wine and mince pie.
It is always impressive how the local businesses and volunteers work together to make this event what must now be the largest switching on of Christmas lights in the area. The crowds are always heaving and the businesses open their doors with a fairground, Christmas market, events, choirs plus food and drinks available to really get everybody in the mood.
So maybe I should embrace it all a bit more? It just seems very early, as I am sitting writing this we are putting up the christmas tree and decorations in the office and it is only the second week in November!
