Leigh-on-Sea home shortlisted for two National Dementia Care Awards!
A CQC rated outstanding Leigh-on-Sea care home has been shortlisted for two National Dementia Care Awards.
Admiral Court Care Home on Manchester Drive has been shortlisted for Dignity and Respect Home, alongside Dementia Care Manager, Jessica Davies who has been nominated for Inspiring Leader.
The awards, which were first established in 2009 by The Journal of Dementia Care, seek to acknowledge care providers and individuals who have made a significant difference to the quality of life of people living with dementia.
The industry-leading home that provides residential, nursing and dementia care was shortlisted for the prestigious ceremony after they pioneered a research project to protect resident’s privacy and dignity with impressive results.
Jessica’s efforts meanwhile were recognised for recruiting and leading the team after she created a sensory Namaste room at the home, identifying residents which it would benefit and delivered daily Namaste sessions which consist of a hand massage, sensory reminiscence activities, and food and drink treats to aid wellbeing.
Speaking of the prestigious nomination, General Manager at Admiral Court Susan Cruse said: “It’s a fantastic achievement to be shortlisted for the Dementia Care Awards, I am very proud to be working alongside a very dedicated team who often work quietly behind the scenes to bring joy, happiness and comfort to the lives of people living with dementia and their families.”
Jessica Davies added: “Being a finalist for most inspiring dementia leader makes me feel so proud of what I have achieved at Hallmark Care Homes, the dementia strategy, the dementia training is just poles apart from what I have ever known – it’s easy to be inspiring when you have the right tools in the bag.” The winners of the 13th National Dementia Care Awards will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at Winchester Cathedral on Thursday 13th July. At the same ceremony, the care home provider’s home in Rugby, Anya Court has been shortlisted for Best Dementia Team.
