Leigh-on-sea restaurants in new Channel 4 Come Dine with Me Professional series.

The Oak Tree plant based Restaurant, Stoked Vegan BBQ and The Royal Hotel, Southend have all featured in the new series of Come Dine with Me Professionals airing on Channel 4 on 25th April.

The programme was filmed 18 months ago with the participants being sworn to secrecy up until now. The Oak Tree and Stoked were used to host the episodes with the regency Royal Hotel in Southend being used for the interview shots. All the restaurants involved are over the moon with the publicity that will come with the show.

The Oak Tree restaurant also featured in a recent Guardian article about the changing face of vegan restaurants. Online abuse is the latest challenge for plant-based eateries along with high costs and changing appetites. It seems the demand for vegan and vegetarian food had plummeted, while the number of people choosing pescatarian – fish and dairy but not meat – had risen by 15-20%.
