The Leigh Regatta Review

September 15, 2014 by Joanna Harrison

If you didn’t make it down to Leigh Regatta on Sunday, then you really did miss out!

Who would of thought that just a matter of weeks ago the Leigh Regatta, which sees thousands of people both local and from afar come together, had been suddenly cancelled!!!!

The Lions Club, who are without a doubt ‘the hero’s of the hour’ laid on an entertaining, diverse and jubilant day which appealed to just about everybody!

An array of different, live and engaging music played from The Crooked Billet & The Peterboat and other groups, including Salsa Heart, put on superb dancing shows, encouraging everybody to join in… even my 2.5 year old had a wiggle!

Local stalls and games lined the streets of the old town with vintage clothes, hook the duck and Piggy Racing all on offer!!!

The Essex Yacht Club, Leigh Sailing Club and Lower Thames Racing Club laid on a full programme enabling even beginners to experience the freedom of sailing and well, it wouldn’t be the Leigh Regatta without good Old Punch & Judy!

The atmosphere was buzzing, the alcohol, ice cream and food was flowing and the sun was shining!

A perfect Leigh Regatta

Thank you The Lions Club!
