New Year, new you! Try Yoga on the Pier
New Year, new you! Try Yoga on the Pier
Tuesday 5th January 2016
Go the distance and stretch yourself for charity at a special Yoga class on the world’s longest pleasure Pier.
This takes place in the Royal Pavilion at the sea end of Southend Pier, on Sunday 17th January from 10.15am until 11.30am in aid of the mental health charity, MIND.
It costs £22, including the pier train fare, and tickets are available from http://yogaonthepier.eventbrite.co.uk
Participants - who are recommended to catch the 9:30am Pier train for this event - must be 16 years or older and also need to have some previous experience of yoga.
If you are a complete yoga beginner but would still like to come along on Sunday 17th January it is essential to attend some beginners classes in preparation.
For further details, please call: 07447 915831, or find the page ‘Yoga on the Pier’ on Facebook.
The yoga being taught in this class will be a vinyasa flow, and will include options to make postures easier or more challenging.
A limited number of yoga mats will be available, so participants are encouraged to bring their own if they can.
The Royal Pavilion Cafe will be open from 10am, and the return Pier train leaves at quarter past and quarter to the hour.
Executive Councillor for Enterprise, Tourism and Economic Development, Councillor Mary Betson said: “The New Year is the ideal time to inspire people to try new fitness activities.
“This yoga class promises to be an uplifting event in the wonderful surroundings of the Royal Pavilion, against the unique backdrop of Thames Estuary in aid of a very worthy cause.
“We hope it proves very popular, and that it may also be the vital prompt to encourage those who were thinking of trying yoga for the first time, to join beginners classes as soon as possible, to get them ready for Sunday 17th January.”
