Night of the Lights

December 1, 2014 by Joanna Harrison

It was one of the most anticipated event’s of the year for our lovely Leigh Community and it has to be said, that Night of the Lights, really did live up to all expectations.

The decision not to allow any external traders really paid off and the original electric atmosphere that was created many years ago, through just the local shops putting on their own event for the evening was back with a bang! Hundreds of families and friends joined in the festivities which continued long into the night.
The procession which started at the top of Kings Road was lead by some very Christmassy and never seen before husky dogs, followed closely by The Amanda Restell Dance Academy, further theatre and dance groups, carnival queen, vintage cars, pantomime bands and much more!

Here at leigh-on-sea.com, we co-hosted, with Scott & Stapleton at 42 Broadway the most stunning grotto, which saw over 150 children visit Father Christmas. With the help of Southend Timber, S W Brookes, artist Aimee Beaven, Scott Waldron Interior Designer and Picture Perfect, and a few outfits from us, we were able to create a christmassy, magical experience. The beautifully designed grotto was the highlight of a fun party atmosphere in the office with arts, crafts, food, sweets, mulled wine and balloons all on offer for children and parents. We also proudly played host to Monty the Penguin for the evening who was a big hit with all the passers by!

What a wonderful event and well done to everybody involved who made this years Night of the Lights, one to remember! We hope everybody in this quirky, retro fishing town felt the magic of Christmas and enjoyed it as much as we all did.

Here's some of the brilliant photographs you sent us:
