Local one hour residential parking restrictions lifted so people stay at home

March 24, 2020 by Emily Mertens

Southend Borough Council has announced that they have agreed to suspend enforcement of all one hour yellow line parking restrictions to encourage people to stay at home.

The parking restrictions will be lifted until Sunday 3rd May 2020 in aid of tackling the coronavirus outbreak.

Cllr Ron Woodley, Cabinet Member For Transport, Capital and Inward Investment, said: “The clear message from Government and from the council locally is to stay at home whilst we continue to tackle this unprecedented outbreak. your individual actions can and will save lives.

“It is therefore vital that those who are able to work from home do so. These restrictions are usually in place to stop residential areas being blighted by commuter parking, but obviously that is currently less of an issue as people rightly stay at home to work.

“We will continue to monitor this ongoing situation and will of course share any information and updates as and when we can.

“Please continue to follow Government advice. Please stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.”
