Royal Mail Sorting Office to Close

Royal Mail have confirmed they are closing their postal sorting office's in Shoebury, Leigh-On-Sea, Great Wakering, Canewdow and Rochford. 

All sorting office work is to be transferred to Royal Mail's Short Street base in Southend. The closures are due to start in Feb 2013. 

Southend Borough Council say they are appalled at Royal Mail’s decision to shut five of its sorting offices in the area without bothering to consider the views of local residents.

We are appalled too. Many, many people signed a petition to keep the Leigh sorting office open. Our wishes were over-ridden.
