Southend & Basildon Hospitals struggling to cope

Southend and Basildon hospital have issued 'internal critical incident' (Southend) and 'black alert' (Basildon) as they struggle to cope for beds. Whilst Basildon are seeing more paitents than they have beds, Southend are literally having too turn paitents away.

A large number of paitents attended both hospitals throughout September and the beginning of October cultimating in the cancellation of a number of elective operations to free up more senior staff. 

It is not just Southend and Basildon that are struggling to cope, with it being reported that other hospitals throughout Essex are also struggling.

The hospital board are working hard too resolve the situation but are also encouraging paitents with more minor conditions too attend an appointment at their local GP.
