Southend BID welcome Caddies owner as new director

September 21, 2020

George Bejko-Cowlbeck, the co-owner of Caddies on London Road, joins the board of directors at Southend BID Ltd.

Southend Business Improvement District (BID) Ltd is a business led organisation that was formed to bring projects and services to the area that are in addition to those provided by stakeholders such as the council or police. Southend BID initiatives have focused around three concepts to manage, motivate and market the BID zone and businesses by making improvements to safety, creating a welcoming environment, putting on events, keeping people informed, and much more.

George opened Caddies in 2018 alongside two friends and the business combines retro crazy golf with a full-service restaurant and cocktail bar. George has been an active member of Southend BID ever since Caddies opened and has participated in events such as the annual Christmas Lights Switch On and Southend Cocktail Week, shared views as part of focus groups, and joined the committee last year to help guide the board of directors.

Keen to be involved in building on the successes of Southend BID, George said: “I feel honoured to be joining the Southend BID board. During such challenging times, organisations like the BID are a lifeline to businesses and towns, and it will be a privilege to serve both.”

George joins a board of four directors included recently appointed Garry Lowen from the Gleneagles Guesthouse. Commenting on George’s recent appointment, Mr Lowen said ”As a new face to the board I am pleased to welcome George and look forward to working alongside him at this pivotal moment in the town’s fortunes. George’s entrepreneurial skills will ensure that we can see change as an opportunity and not a negative.”
