Southend pub set to shut to make way for £150 million development

A popular Seafront pub in Southend has confirmed it will close this weekend.

The Foresters Arms had been threatened with legal action from developers Inner London Group for holding up a £150 million development due to them needing the whole site to move forward.

The company were granted planning permission back in 2015 for the 'Marine Plaza Development' which incorporated 282 flats, shops and restaurants, but plans were stalled due to the economic climate until they managed to secure a partner which provided a £60 million boost to the project enabling it to go ahead.

Owner's of the The Foresters Arms took to social media on their adult entertainment page last week to confirm the closure in a statement which read

"It's our penultimate weekend at The Foresters Arms as we will officially close our doors for the last time on Sunday, June 9.

To all our customers past and present, come down and see our girls for the last time over the next week... the last time they will be here will be next Saturday evening.

Until then, make the most of them, we hope to see you all one last time".
