Southend town plans hit with fury by traders

Southend councillors have been met with opposition from traders who are looking to overturn controversial plans to re-develop part's of the town over a 5 year period.

The strong group of traders led by  Adventure Island owner Philip Miller, Chief Executive of Essex Chambers of Commerce Denise Rossiter and Paul Thomson, Chairman of the Seafront Traders Association, are urging the council to re-visit their initial plans in an argument of insufficient parking and ignoring the importance of tourism.

A meeting will be held tonight at the council to address the current plans and concerns.
