Southend YMCA want you to help put the FUN in FUNdraising!
On the 26th of March from 7pm to 7am Southend YMCA is hosting their annual virtual fundraiser #YMCASleepEasy, where the vital funds raised will go towards tackling the root causes of youth homelessness.
Your challenge is to sleep anywhere away from your bed for ONEnight! Why not make it a family affair and build a den, if you have a safe outside space maybe sleep in your garden...or what about your bathtub! It doesn't matter where it is, as long as it's not your bed.
You can enter as an individual, as a family or group, or maybe get your street or school team to enter?!
Post a pic of your creative sleeping space to @SOUTHENDYMCA, #YMCASleepEasy to be entered into our prize draw!
IT'S REALLY SIMPLE, get sponsored to sleep out and give young people from Southend a safe place to live.
YMCA Southend is proud to be once again taking part in YMCA's national Sleep Easy which has seen more than 7,000 people sleep rough in the last 10 years to raise over £1.5m for local YMCA services that help young people rebuild their lives.
YMCA Southend is asking supporters to sleep out, so others don't have to, by taking part in special Sleep Easy events all over England and Wales. In ordinary times, this would have involved groups and individuals meeting at a YMCA, building cardboard shelters, sharing the evening outside and together experiencing the harsh realities of life on the streets.
The challenges of running an event like this during the current pandemic are many, however, they do not compare to the difficulties that young homeless people are battling every single day.
For more than a decade the public has been sleeping out to raise money for YMCA and this year we are asking you to do so but with a twist. We're asking the public to sleep on their porch, bathtub or under the stairs in their home, or if you are able to brace the weather in tents in your garden.
While we cannot be together for Sleep Easy, we can still help save young people lives. For one night only, will you join us and make a difference?
You can find out more and set up your fundraising page at https://www.southendymca.org.uk/sleep-easy-2021
