Join the ‘Spring Clean Your Journey’ challenge this March
Fancy doing your bit for the planet this March? What if we mentioned a £250 prize was on offer?
Travel initiative ForwardMotion has created a challenge to encourage South Essex travellers to swap their car for a different mode of transport, naming it the 'Spring Clean Your Journey' challenge.
Residents from Thurrock, Basildon, Rochford, Castle Point and Southend-on-Sea have the opportunity to bag a £250 prize for completing just one journey on a bus, train, bike or on foot which they would have normally travelled by car.
The aim is to encourage residents to think about travelling more actively and sustainably by giving their journey to work, university, college or job interviews a 'spring clean.'
To take part, complete your journey and use the hashtag #SpringCleanJourney to be entered into the prize draw. Alternatively, residents can inform ForwardMotion they’ve taken part in the challenge by sending an email about their journey spring clean to hello@forwardmotionsouthessex.co.uk.
Cllr Ron Woodley, Chair Of The South Essex Active Travel Sponsoring Board, commented: “With Spring just around the corner, we’re encouraging people to turn over a new leaf and use a greener travel method in March, to help reduce emissions across the south Essex area. Buses, trains and cycling all produce fewer emissions per passenger than a car, and, of course, walking cuts emissions out completely.
“As well as helping the environment, swapping the car for a different way of travelling this month can help people save money and feel refreshed, both physically and mentally. And, not forgetting, taking part in our challenge also means you’re in with a chance of winning a £250 prize.”
To help people spring clean their journeys, ForwardMotion’s trained travel advisers will be on hand throughout March, to provide free, tailored advice about how you can swap the car for a cleaner way of travelling, call 01702 212727.
