Stand by for superb new season of concerts
Monday 17th August 2015
Now is the time to plan ahead and book tickets for a thrilling range of live performances in Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s latest concert series.
These feature internationally acclaimed musicians giving monthly recitals from October until June next year at the Plaza Centre, Southchurch Road, Southend.
Among them will be top chamber ensembles including the vocal group Voces8, the baroque quartet, Red Priest and the Locrian Piano Trio.
Outstanding one-armed pianist Nicholas McCarthy will make his debut in Southend in November, and there are also performances by pianist Mark Bebbington, as well as recitals for piano duo and for violin and piano.
It costs just £62 (£54 for concessions) to attend all eight exciting concerts – including membership of the Council’s Concert Club.
Concert club members are eligible for discounts to every concert in the series, and discounts are also available for some classical music concerts promoted by Southend Theatres.
You can book online for the Council’s whole concert series, or arrange membership only at:
www.southend.gov.uk/concerts
Alternatively tickets for each performance are available on the door on the night, or in advance from: the Plaza Centre, Southchurch Road, Southend; Allegro Music, London Road, Westcliff; or the Visitor Information Centre at Southend Pier.
The first concert from 8pm on Friday 9th October, showcases the highly acclaimed Locrian Piano Trio, performing music by Haydn, Brahms, Schubert, Liszt and Bizet.
Executive Councillor for Enterprise, Tourism and Economic Development, Councillor Graham Longley said: “Our concert series offers a terrific opportunity for residents and visitors to attend world class live classical music concerts in Southend at much reduced prices.
“The maximum ticket price is £10 – and many tickets are much cheaper than this.
“We have been promoting this well-loved series for more than 25 years to give the chance for everyone to enjoy top quality professional music performances right here in our borough.”
