After 9 years of planning issues for developers, the redevelopment of the landmark building, The Bell Hotel, finally got under way last October.

However, this Tuesday 24th November, a loud bang was reported and work immediately came to a holt as the back of the hotel collapsed with the front instantly deemed unstable. The surrounding roads were immediately closed as concern grew over the safety of the front of the building.

After further reinvestigating, it has been reported that the building is unsafe and is due to be completely demolished over the next few days. Leigh Hill along with other surrounding roads will remain closed until further notice.

The re-development, lead by father and son property developers Robin and Ben Levy, were set to turn the derelict building into 5 stunning, sea side apartments ranging from £249,995 to £899,995

Update - 3pm on Thursday 26th November

The Bell Hotel has collapsed ahead of planned demolition tomorrow
