The Big 32!
The Big 32!
There’s nothing quite like a birthday to get you thinking about life… in some cases a little too much!
As I turned the grand old age of 32 this week, my reflection, was by far a not a negatove one. It wasn’t about what I hadn’t achieved in life nor was it about regrets, it was all about the future and more so, how very ‘lucky’ I deem myself to be!
Im a firm believer in celebrating birthday’s with a bang and these celebrations I’m talking about started last Friday and ended only on Tuesday; quite an accomplishment I know! I spent the whole time talking, dining and drinking with friends (something I think we took to the extreme when Tuesdays night meal out was ‘bring your own booze’ and we turned up with a whole Vineyard) but what really got me over those five days more than anything, was how very lucky I was.
I was totally spoilt rotten with some wonderful thoughtful gifts, flowers and cards but more than anything, people’s time. I realised that now, as a woman in my 30’s, these friends of mine were not just potential passing friends like we all experienced in our teen’s and even twenties, these were/are my friends for life and I adore every single one of them!
So, another year older and some would be wishing that the clock was turning backwards rather than moving forwards but for me, I'm delighted to embrace being 32 (okay delighted may be a bit stronger word as certain body parts aren't as firm as they used to be). However, what I do know is that now, in my 30’s, I'm a lot more contented, confident and in charge of my life than I ever was in my 20’s and it appears I'm not the only one!
According to Cosmo, us girls in our 30’s amongst other things are;
- No longer a victim to fashion - we know what works for us
- Were confident, know what we want and say goodbye to any insecurities that haunted us in our 20’s
- We don’t have time for drama and you certainly won’t find us creating it
- We know who our real friends are and surround ourselves with them
I couldn’t have put it better myself!
So, here’s to 32, and a massive thank you to all my friends who made my birthday what it was… you know who you are!
