The 4 Pillars of Protection
When it comes to mortgages most people will bypass a key need in the post completion stage, and that is INSURANCE.
Whether you believe in it or not, there is no denying its importance when it comes to protecting your most important asset you may ever own, your home.
For the drivers out there, we insure our cars. Whilst this may be a legal requirement, but given the choice would you have it any other way? We also insure our phones, our tablets, small items that arguably could be replaced fairly comfortably in the event of loss, or damage. But why do we miss covering the most important thing out there, ourselves, our loved ones? How would you replace your worth if you were no longer here, or if you were ill? It is an interesting debate, and certainly one that can have huge ramifications if something were to go wrong. Have you ever thought how you might cope if a loved one were not there? How would your family cope if you were no longer there? What would be the implications on affording those mortgage payments? It is a frightening thought, but thankfully something that can be avoided with care, and planning.
So what are the 4 pillars of protecting your home? Quite simply there are 4 categories of key insurance: Life Assurance, Critical Illness Cover, Income Protection, and Home Insurance.
By having a policy in place for all 4 you can comfortably rest assured that you are fully covered as follows. Life Assurance covers in the event of a death, Critical Illness in the event of a serious illness, income protection in the event of less serious issues but to ensure payment where your employer might not cover, and finally Home Insurance, essential in event of an unforeseen disaster in the home. Obviously it depends what is most important to you and your family, and ultimately budget may come in to your thinking.
Insurance is now incredibly flexible, and terms can be arranged to suit you, and your budget. So, if you are worried that you may be under-insured, have outdated cover, or even without cover, we are here to help and can assess what would be best for you. Call, or e-mail, today to find out more.
