The Return of Leigh Art Trail 2016

June 5, 2016 by Joanna Harrison

This weekend has seen the welcome return of the ever popular Leigh Art Trail.

At Scott & Stapleton we are delighted to welcome back Natasha Kamburova and she has spent the last couple of days setting up her pieces at the office.

I don’t have a clue about art but enjoy the art trail very much and having them at the office is always great fun.

We have been discussing the paintings in the office today and it is lovely to be able to take your time to look at them in a relaxed atmosphere rather than a stuffy gallery (like I said, I know nothing about art).

I have been to the Tate Modern a couple of times and even though I really love it, I don’t really know what I am looking at and always feel a bit self conscious if I linger at any painting trying to take it in. I always think that I must have a neon sign above my head flashing 'Art Virgin’ and it is completely obvious to all of the art students wandering around.

This years art trail seems to be one of the largest yet, with 46 artists displaying works at 31 venues and their really seems to be something for everyone with painters, photographers, sculptors, ceramicists, illustrators and mixed media artist (no, me either??).

The displays as ever, are complimented by the live performances which include Mastonbury at The Ship, various events at the Westcliff United Reform Church at Kings Road and exhibitions at Fair Havens in Westcliff.

You can also try your hand if you fancy demonstrating works next year yourself you could learn with live demonstrations of photography techniques, embroidery and even stone or wax carvings.

The art trail is now in its 19th year and has become nationally renowned and is often mentioned in the press when telling the world of the virtues of Leigh on Sea.

It is always something that we look forward to at Scott & Stapleton towers and this year is no exception; bring on the art aficionados and virgins alike.
