Works are taking a step in the right direction at Belton Hills

July 29, 2018 by Southend Borough Council Press Release

Works on the Belton Hills steps and paths are on track with the next key stage ready to take place next week.

All the screw piles have been installed and the ground beams for the steps have been cast, and on Sunday 05 August, the first batch of precast concrete steps will be delivered to the site, followed by the installation of the steps.

The delivery of the steps means that there will be a temporary road closure on Sunday 05 August, with Belton Way West being closed off from traffic whilst the delivery takes place. Minor diversions will be in place for the duration of the delivery, to accommodate the works.

Cllr Lesley Salter, cabinet member for healthy communities and wellbeing, said: “We are delighted to announce the works at Belton Hills are progressing well, and we are on-track to complete the project within the anticipated time-frame

“As the delivery of the first steps will be from heavy goods vehicles, we have to ensure the workman have clear access to the site. With this in mind, a temporary road closure will be in place on the Sunday, with minor diversions in place. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we would like to reassure residents that those who wish to access Leigh Station, Two Tree Island, the household waste recycling centre and Old Leigh will still have access to these sites.”

There will be further step deliveries, which are programmed to take place on Sunday 19 August and Sunday 2 September. Further messages will be relayed regarding updates on these deliveries. The works are estimated to be completed in autumn 2018

Further works include the installation of new handrails and LED street lighting.
