The Boatyard combines the benefits of a modern purpose-built restaurant with the classic surroundings of the Old Leigh fishing village, not to mention the excellent food. Contained within what was previously a working boatyard, the building has been converted into a modern restaurant, fully air-conditioned with a state of the art music system, digital projection screen and a glass-fronted kitchen area.

On Friday 6th July the Olympic Torch will leave Southend at 10.55am. It will be carried through Southend coming up Chalkwell Avenue and then proceed along the London Road (A13). We are told that the torch will be taken down to Hadleigh Farm, the venue for the mountain biking event and ridden around the track before then going on to Basildon.
Leigh-on-Sea has seen many changes over the past seventy years. From a small fishing village before the war, it has blossomed into a bustling commuter town, spreading it’s boundaries to encompass parts of Prittlewell and Eastwood.
