On Sunday 9th June, Southend-on-Sea will host a Half Marathon in aid of local charity Havens Hospices which will mean there will be road closures around the seafront area for a short period of time on that day.
An overwhelming 98% of people rated the Herd In The City experience as excellent or good and were proud to have the art trail in the city. The trail encouraged public pride and helped bring people together, with 89% of people saying it brought a sense of community to the local area.

Southend’s premier running event - which raises thousands of pounds for Havens Hospices - is set to return to the seafront this summer.
Havens Hospices has been turning trees into care after collecting more than 900 real Christmas trees from doorsteps across south Essex to help raise vital funds for the charity.
The collection service will pick up real Christmas trees from households in return ‘fir’ a donation of a minimum of £7 on Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th January 2024.
A mammoth £180,000 was raised at the Herd In The City Auction, bringing the grand total raised for the whole art trail to £580,000.
Herd In The City has been hailed a ‘mammoth’ success as it leaves the city streets following seven weeks of colour and tons of fun!
Tickets are on sale for our Herd In The City Farewell Weekend which will see all the elephants in one place before they are auctioned off to raise funds for Havens Hospices.

The elephants of Herd In The City have been mounted onto their plinths, ready to stand proud ahead of the trail launching this Friday.

Herd In The City, a public art trail created by Havens Hospices and Wild in Art, will see over 45 large elephant sculptures and 70 baby elephants placed around the streets of Southend-on-Sea, Shoeburyness and Leigh-on-Sea from Friday 14th July to Monday 4th September.
