So, The Foodie Bucket List Continues...
Have I just woken up? Have I been in some kind’a gastronomic dream? Did last week really happen? At one point I had to pinch myself to make sure I was awake.
Have I just woken up? Have I been in some kind’a gastronomic dream? Did last week really happen? At one point I had to pinch myself to make sure I was awake.
We’ve all got a bucket list, right? All those must do things before you pop your clogs. Swim with dolphins, wing walk, fly in a hot air balloon, and all those sorts of things. Yes, I do have a bucket list but an alternative one. It’s a foodie bucket list.
So, the day was finally here. I’ve been anticipating this for weeks. Basically, I was in for an afternoon of BBQ and craft beer! Two things I love!
Oh boy, the memories of this place. It played such a big part in my life during the 90’s. A night out in Southend wasn’t complete without popping in here.
Living by the coast certainly brings alfresco dining to another level. Something as simple as a picnic on the beach, or a bit of seafood with a pint of ale in Old Leigh, are both the most charming and pleasurable foodie experiences we can enjoy right on our doorstep.
Taco Ria have brought something to Southend which is different. It's like nothing else we have. It's somewhere to go with friends and enjoy some pretty unique grub.
Think of health food and you don’t normally think of burgers? Quinoa salads, lean protein and fresh veg yes, but a burger? They couldn’t be farther away from what we consider health food.
Surely any chef who names a restaurant after themselves is either top of their game, or gastronomically deluded. It’s a brave thing to do.
Mersea island, not to be mistaken with Mersey. No, one’s a famous scouse river, which some would argue is as sacred as the Ganges, and the other, a sleepy little island on the coast of Colchester.
A savvy young entrepreneur, has had a vision to create a craft beer bar; Hallelujah I thought...
I'm not going to lie, I wasn't looking forward to this, but in the interests of ‘Battle of The Burgers’ it had to be done. I can’t be selfish, it’s not all about me me me!
So after last week’s dull and un-interesting Burger experience I needed to find somewhere a little more inspiring. I'd been grumpy all week as a result of that lack lustre burger. I'd thought long and hard about where I should go, it's gotta be somewhere not just good, it's gotta be top drawer, but where?
I'm not gonna beat around the bush this week. Normally, to begin my reviews, I find myself waffling on about this and that, and to be honest, it's just unnecessary foodie blog garnish. There's nothing worse than unnecessary garnish.
The main reason I wanted to write a series about the wonderful world of burgers, was not only to review those obvious burger joints, but to find those eateries you wouldn't normally go to for a burger.
I’m pretty certain we all love a burger? That simple marriage of meat and bun is a thing of beauty!
Where would we be without the Spoons? Maybe not everyone's idea of good old British pub, and I would tend to agree.
I consider myself a foodie, I suppose the clue is in the name really. But how much of a foodie am I? I think I'll give anything a go once. I've eaten some pretty weird concoctions in my time.
We’re not short of Italian restaurants in the local area, I'm sure most of us have a favourite...
